This work was inspired by cairns located in the native Innu community of Essipit, which sits along the north shore of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence in the Côte-Nord region of Quebec, Canada.

This short series of paintings completed in 2014 expanded upon the concepts explored in my Ink on Mylar series with a focus on contrast between natural and man-made.

Trees, maps, microbiology and cathedral windows appear in various levels of deconstruction as I break down my own subjectivity and become aware of how I filter my surroundings.

Works created in response to Artist-in-Residence position at Isle Royale National Park, and other prior National Park visits, exploring elements of the landscape, personal experience, and the Leave No Trace ethic.
